When I miss having you as our boys' pediatrician (you may remember infant Nolan with the fractured skull at Moses Cone), I quickly remind myself that other people need you in other place and Dr. Cooper takes great care of the boys. I hope that you enjoy being in the US and seeing loved ones. I want to take you out for Starbucks and ice cream and get you a big bag of twizzlers.Angiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10642246229060009234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-42568901203183619.post-5525494164241332222012-06-20T11:48:41.195-07:002012-06-20T11:48:41.195-07:00Would you believe that I just recovered the piece ...Would you believe that I just recovered the piece of paper you wrote your blog site on buried in my office???? I have thought about you and your family this year and wondered how you are doing. I have nearly read through your entire blog in one sitting (after the kids went to bed of course) and let me say that I started in reverse chronological order so I was blown away when I read something about "twins"!! At first, I thought....Did she have twins in Africa??? I have really enjoyed your writing and I am amazed at your lives there. I am dying to meet all your children! You have lapped me at 5... Gonna stick with the 3 that I have. I "thought" I had the worst week ever with my twin boys because they were sick and complaining and only wanted Mama etc. and I read your blog and felt awful for feeling sorry for myself. It really puts life into perspective and makes me so grateful that I can care for my child in a nice home, medications when needed, food overflowing, gas in the car, A/C and all the other things one can easily take for granted. Elliott is 6 and she still asks about you and my twin boys (Finn and Cade) will be 4 in August and they still love to be as close as possible to each other- remember when they were bare to their diapers in that book bin and you snapped a photo?! I think you are an incredible woman/doctor/mother and will know what is right for your family. I imagine it will be very hard to just "visit" home and return to such a different world....but like the previous poster said, before you know it you will be sad to leave. I hope you have a wonderful time in NC and I look forward to seeing you again someday!! We miss you as our pediatrician, but you are greatly needed where you are. Be safe.Dabneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03708257993654349383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-42568901203183619.post-15581559731708471792012-06-19T23:32:33.389-07:002012-06-19T23:32:33.389-07:00well said elizabeth. but the year will be quick- ...well said elizabeth. but the year will be quick- time goes fast- i think when you come back you will be refreshed and inspired by your own stories that you will run to malawi and spend a quick year and soon your sorrow will be in your leaving.
will be interesting to see how i feel when we (hopefully) go home to visit for christmas next year- it will be a year and a half since leaving.
enjoy some good ice cream for me! and starbucks!! safe travels.Kris Reidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05739879318467500815noreply@blogger.com
